Free Culture Incubator
Digital culture gave rise to alternative forms of value transfer and new notions of price, funding and payment structures: Crowdsourcing, P2P credits, social payment, micro patronage- the currency of tomorrow should be consistent with social, emotional and cultural values.
Free Culture revenue models are based on micro-economies and a creative conversion from cultural goods into adequate economic value. Artists and cultural workers are asked to come up with their own revenue models to make their professional practice sustainable.
This process holds many challenges, as we can’t rely on any standards or metrics yet. This talk focuses on new cultural currencies and presents best practice examples of the Free Culture Incubator workshop series.
This session is presented by Ela Kagel, who initiated the Free Culture Incubator, a Berlin-based platform for freelance cultural and creative workers at transmediale.10.
