The future told through the medium of fictional objects.

An exhibition of fictional objects presented at the City Fictions museum, which presents speculative objects from the future rather than relics from the past.

Adrian Hon’s A History of the Future in 100 Objects is a hybrid of fact and informed speculation, presenting a journey through the near future of humankind by means of the artefacts we might leave behind. What are the objects, ideas, projects and events that future historians will use to sum up our century? Smart drugs that change the way we think? A wedding ring between a human and an AI? A society which no longer has work to do? A cure for hate?

Adrian Hon was inspired to produce this exhibition and his newly released book of the same name when listening to A History of the World in 100 Objects by BBC Radio 4 and the British Museum.

Presented as part of City Fictions, a speculative near future city. Institution: museum.
