FutureEverything further a long-running alliance with Faktion, one of the UK’s premier promoters of forward-facing music, to present a pairing of dance music auteurs and cutting edge, extreme music pioneers.
Finnish sound explorer and techno producer Mika Vainio will perform live using his revered arsenal of custom modified hardware during his first appearance in Manchester since a co-billing with Ryoji Ikeda at FutureEverything 2010. Both solo as Ø, and in Pan Sonic with Ilpo Väisänen, Mika established blueprints for Techno and Power Noise whose influence is strongly felt in 2014. Mika has collaborated with Autechre’s Sean Booth, Charlemagne Palestine, and Fennesz, among many others.
Source Direct were responsible for some of ’90s Jungle and D&B’s most groundbreaking, definitive productions. Ahead of an eagerly anticipated reissue schedule, SD will be represented by one half of the original duo, Jim Baker, with a DJ set of classics, unreleased dubs and new edits.
Ninos Du Brasil is the carnival-inspired Italian percussive duo fronted by international performance artist, Nico Vascellari (Coda Lunga/Von Archive). Their febrile live show channels voodoo rhythms, noise and techno, presented with flamboyant costumes and cosmetics.
EVOL are the original computer music hooligans. Helmed by Spanish sound artist Roc Jiménez de Cisneros since the late ’90s and inspired by geometry, metaphysics, noise, cosmology and rave culture, EVOL apply rigorous method to make delirious, brutalist algorithmic compositions at the extremes of dance and electronic musics.
