Creator of Sonic Pi, Sam Aaron is inviting the audience to ask a simple but deep question – how can we give more people both an understanding, and a greater experience of the amazing creative potential of code?

Sonic Pi is a simple-to-use free live coding music synthesiser designed to help teach computing and music in the classroom. A live process, Sonic Pi uses fast feedback and studio quality sound production as a means to engage school children in introductory coding.

In this talk, we will follow the story of Sonic Pi from its humble beginnings in a single class of school children to its current standing as a state-of-the-art live coding system. Installed by default on all Raspberry Pis, Sonic Pi is used to live code in a variety of venues from algoraves to music venues internationally.
