FutureEverything Festival: 25 – 28th February
In 2015, FutureEverything celebrates its 20th anniversary. For the last two decades the festival has brought people together to imagine, shape and question the vision of a truly participatory society. A belief in the emancipatory and creative potential of new technologies runs throughout digital culture. It is found both in the open source community, and in the rhetoric Silicon Valley startups. Today the contradictions in this vision have come to the surface.
In its 20th year, FutureEverything asks “what now?” for our digital culture? Do we need a bigger vision than open, local, bottom up is best? What are the values and narratives that will define the twenty years to come?
Conference: 26 – 27th February
What now for…Memory? Ownership? Democracy? The Weird & Wonderful?
Our four conference themes for 2015 and our 20th anniversary capture the unimaginable ways our lives have been transformed by the digital turn over the last 20 years.
Art, Live & Film Programme
Celebrating its 20th year, the FutureEverything Festival returns to the RNCM to build on the artistic partnership between the two organisations. This co-curated programme features installations, performances, new commissions, world premieres and, for the first time, we also present a film programme in the RNCM’s Lecture Theatre. Many events are free.
Festival Lab is a workshop and production hub featuring a week long series of research, development, participatory and exploratory projects. Spanning data, innovation, music and performance, Festival Lab sees the city as a space for play and experimentation.
