FutureEverything seeks an exceptional individual to join the company as Chair of the Board.

This is an opportunity to be the head of an organisation known around the world as a leader in the digital culture sector.

The new Chair will join the Company at a time of exciting growth and development. FutureEverything has an emerging business model and the opportunity is to further develop this model to drive the growth and success of the Company.

In 1995, FutureEverything was established with the vision to give rise together to a truly participatory culture and society. Over 20 years it has participated in and shaped the emergence of a digital culture. The new Chair will set the direction for another 20 years at the forefront of digital innovation.

FutureEverything is an award winning innovation agency and festival in Manchester. It presents a celebrated festival of ideas and digital invention, hailed by The Guardian as one of the top ten ideas festivals in the world. The festival brings the future to Manchester with inspiring live experiences and industry events, engaging a wide audience and affiliating its partners with the very best in digital innovation.

FutureEverything led the development of a city data ecosystem in Manchester, and supports the development of innovative services using data, by businesses, city officials, scientists, citizens and designers. Through community networks and regular events it makes connections between thinkers, developers, coders, artists, designers, urbanists and policy makers – inspiring them to experiment and to collaborate in new ways.

FutureEverything is based at Manchester Science Park on Manchester Corridor. It is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England and recently secured three year investment from Manchester City Council. Other funders and partners include Future Cities Catapult, Connected Digital Economy Catapult, Digital R&D Fund (Big Data Call), NOMA, Visit Manchester, British Council and the European Commission (Framework 7, ICT PSP and Culture programmes).

Prospective trustees should be committed to FutureEverything’s vision to give rise together to a truly participatory culture and society. They should be able to engage and contribute to the development of strategies and business models required to maximise the impact and value of FutureEverything’s work. They will ideally have experience of overseeing business and development strategies to stimulate growth in digital and creative or a related field. Above all they will be passionate about the role of innovation and art as vital contributors to society.

There will be an opportunity for prospective candidates to attend the 20th Anniversary FutureEverything Festival, 25-28 Feb 2015 in Manchester.
