Drew Hemment

Drew Hemment is an artist, curator and researcher based in Manchester England. He is Director and Founder of FutureEverything (formerly Futuresonic, est. 1995), and is Associate Director of ImaginationLancaster at Lancaster University rated among the top three UK universities for research in art and design. Winner of the Lever Prize 2010, shortlisted for Big Chip International Award for Innovation 2010, and received an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2008 for the artwork Loca: Set To Discoverable.

His work has been covered prominently by New York Times, BBC and NBC, and he has served on many prominent international Art Juries including UNESCO DigiArts. Has over 15 years experience in leading large scale international events and projects in digital culture, visual arts, music, mobile media, networked events and mass participation. Recent projects have been on open data, remote collaboration, new mobilities and environmental mass observation. He was involved in seminal events in late 1980s UK electronic dance culture and in 1999, awarded a PhD at Lancaster University, in 2009 elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (UK).
