PROTO_Network Meet-up: Stockport

A series of touring artist networking events for creatives to come together, connect, and gain insights into digital art practices.

Coming to Stockport this March, 2025.

Looking for a fresh way to connect with fellow artists? Join us for the PROTO_Network Meet-up, designed to bring artists and creatives together, spark ideas, and discover new and exciting digital art practices. Whether you’re an established artist or just starting out, the PROTO_Network events are for anyone with a passion for art, a curiosity for technology, and an interest in meeting potential future collaborators.

As part of this special sonic edition, we’ll be joined by Manchester-based sound and electronic media artist Vicky Clarke, who produces music under the moniker SONAMB. Vicky will introduce her artistic practice working in music production, DIY electronics, sculpture and digital art, and how these threads intertwine within her performance and installation work. There will be a live AV demo featuring her electronic interfaces and circuits, and she will share insight into her studio approach, artistic inspirations, and how she experiments with technology to make work.

The event will be hosted by the hilarious and flamboyant Manchester-based artist Jonathan Mayor, a comedy legend celebrated for his quick wit, outrageous charm, and talent for bringing people together. Jonathan will keep the energy high and the laughs coming.

PROTO_Network Host and Artist

Jonathan Mayor

Jonathan is one of the finest comperes in the country, capable of settling even the rowdiest crowds with savage wit and a high octane stage presence. When Jonathan arrives, its showtime, engaging the audience both on and off-stage. He is one of the few acts who will not only perform when the stage lights are on, but also wander among the crowd, chatting and charming – truly “hosting” the night.

Vicky Clarke

Vicky Clarke is a sound and electronic media artist, whose work explores materiality, electrical phenomena and ritual. Working with sound sculpture, DIY electronics and human-machine systems, she explores techno-emotional states through composition and live AV performance. She produces music under the moniker SONAMB and released her debut album, SLEEPSTATES, ‘‘a glitchy experimental techno jerker” (Boomkat) in 2022 with recent shows including IKLEKTIK, MUTEK and supporting Forest Swords. AURA MACHINE, her sonic AI piece, from her Musique Concreté and Machine Learning residency with NOVARS, University of Manchester, featured on FACTmag’s PatchNotes series. In 2020 Vicky was awarded an Oram Award from PRS Foundation and New BBC Radiophonic Workshop and is currently an ‘In Motion’ composer for Sound and Music UK 2024.
