Meet the team: Jess Varey

Q&A with our Finance & Admin Manager

Meet Jess, our rather brilliant Finance & Administration Manager, and resident problem solver. Every day Jess supports us with her wealth of knowledge and expertise, making sure we always have an eye on sustainability. 

So Jess, can you tell our community a little bit more about you and what you get up to at FutureEverything?

Aside from managing the company’s accounts, I also maintain the company cashflow, sales and purchase ledgers, payroll, monthly management accounts and financial admin. I’m always looking for ways to improve process efficiency as it makes life easier and reporting much more comprehensive. What’s great about my role is that I get the chance to work with a really strong team and great group of people. From this, I find myself constantly learning new things and challenging the way things are done in order to make improvements.

What did you do before you joined the FutureEverything team?

Before working at FutureEverything, I worked for a commercial decorating company in Bolton, my home town. I had been working for commercial companies for a number of years and found the ‘profit’ sector emotionally draining. I made the switch because I wanted to work in an environment where profit was not the main objective. I love working with the FutureEverything team and I’m so glad I made the decision to move.

What about outside of FutureEverything, what do you get up to when you’re not in work?

Gardening and self studying CIMA.

And what are you reading at the mo?

Currently reading the V.C Andrews Dollenganger series and CIMA textbooks, it’s a weird mix I know!
