OPPORTUNITY: Freelance UX Designer

Could you help us design a new web tool for the GROW Observatory?

We’re looking for a Freelance UX designer to work on a short project (5 days) to develop a small web application.

Ideally we’re looking for a Manchester-based freelancer, as you’ll need to be available to collaborate onsite at our Manchester office on two or three occasions during the project.

About the project

As part of GROW Observatory, we’re looking to create a web application tool aimed at people who grow food, to empower them with local information about soil and watering requirements. We’re looking for someone to help us design the app in a user-friendly way, presenting information back to the user in the form of simple-to-understand graphs, dates and statistics.

The application will be available for desktop and mobile. When using the app, growers will need to enter their location in order to access relevant information. They may also have the option to enter information about their soil type.

This online tool forms part of FutureEverything’s work on the GROW Observatory, a European-funded citizen science project which tackles issues relating to climate change and soil moisture.

About you

We’re looking for a Freelance UX Designer with the following experience:

  • Designing interfaces for web/mobile applications
  • Interaction design
  • Working with a front-end developer

Dates and availability: We’re looking for a freelancer with approximately 5 days of time available mid March to early April 2019.

To apply

Please send your CV, portfolio and day rate to info@futureeverything.org with the subject line ‘UX Designer’.

Application deadline: midnight on Sunday 3rd March.

Important information

The nature of the project’s European funding prevents us from contracting a freelancer through a recruitment consultant.

Due to the office-based nature of the work, we are not able to work with designers who are working remotely from outside the UK.
