Current role: Associate Artist
Part Two: Algae, Artificial Intelligence & Make Believe
Vicky is our Associate Artist working on the design and delivery of our in house creative projects. Bringing her art-tech-noise skills and experience to the team, you’ll find her tinkering with creative coding, designing sculptures out of e-waste or devising engagement activities involving technology and citizens. Vicky has a background in cultural production, youth arts and education, having joined the team as a freelance producer. Before FutureEverything she led the Whitworth Young Contemporaries, part of CIRCUIT, a national Tate led programme to transform how young people engage with art galleries culminating in WARP Festival.
Outside of FutureEverything Vicky is a sound and electronic media artist based at Rogue Studios. Working with sound sculpture, DIY electronics and human-machine systems, she explores our relationship to technology through sonic materiality; creating performances, installations and objects. Vicky won the Oram Award 2020 for innovation in sound and music technology from PRS Foundation and New BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
She is currently artist in residence at NOVARS, University of Manchester exploring musique concrete and machine learning in collaboration with PRiSM, RNCM. The residency builds on her AI research trip to St Petersburg as selected artist for UK-RUSSIA Year of Music and her project ‘MATERIALITY’ exploring sound sculpture to interface the physical and digital, collaborating with the National Graphene Institute to create a conductive performance interface.
Her work has featured on ‘SONIC FUTURES: How technology is guiding electronic music’, British Council and FACT magazine and she has performed/exhibited with National Science & Media Museum, MUTEK and CTM. Vicky is part of AmplifyDAI, an international programme supporting the work of women artists in sound and digital arts in UK, Canada and Argentina with MUTEK, Somerset House Studios and British Council. As co-director of Noise Orchestra she promotes DIY music culture and demystifying tech, she is a freelance music educator supporting women in sound.
