Fault Lines

Fault Lines is our landmark talent development and commissioning programme awarded an Ambition for Excellence award by Arts Council England. The programme supports the development of art practice across new domains, exploring how artists can have an impact on innovation in the technology sector.

In 2016, we welcomed eight exceptional creatives to the inaugural Fault Lines programme to explore the role of art and technology in the future of society. The programme supports the development of art practice across new domains through the delivery of professional development training, mentoring, coaching and commissioning. Through Fault Lines, our talented cohort of artists are creating new work that demonstrates how art impacts on innovation in the technology sector. Their work explores contemporary issues and challenges, and how technology, art and design can be used to help us navigate complex ideas through interactive experiences.

Through an eclectic mix of art, design, performance and creative technology, the artists are creating exciting new work that tests the ‘fault lines’ between culture, society, technology and innovation. So far, we’ve produced seven bold new commissions with the Fault Lines artists, along with participatory projects and workshops that invite people into the conversation.

“Without art, the future would never change.”

– Paula Varjack, No Boundaries 2017
