PROTO MASTERCLASSES

Join us for the online PROTO Masterclasses and dive into expert-led sessions that explore innovative creative practices

Taking place in February and March 2025, the PROTO Masterclasses are a series of expert-led online sessions designed to provide UK artists based in the North with a unique opportunity to engage with and learn from a diverse range of international artists, cultural leaders, and creative professionals.

The Masterclasses offer artists a rare chance to learn from a wide spectrum of cultural leaders and professional artists with multifaceted creative practices and a rich history of engaging with art, technology, and ecology in innovative ways. Participants can expect to explore several key themes woven throughout the sessions, including collaboration and community, interdisciplinary approaches, sustainability & ethical engagement, and technological innovation.

The hosts will bring their personal and unique perspectives, representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences, while sharing their journeys, an introduction to their practice, and their artistic strategies, offering participants a rare glimpse into their worlds. An exciting aspect of the Masterclasses is the element of interactivity. Throughout the sessions, there will be Q&A opportunities where attendees can interact directly with the hosts and in other sessions we’ll invite participants to join discussions in breakout rooms, allowing for deeper dialogue and engagement with peers and hosts.

In addition to creative exploration, some Masterclasses will provide actionable advice on career development, networking, and navigating opportunities within the creative industry. Speakers may share practical wisdom and real-world examples, offering guidance that can help participants find confidence, capacity, and community.
