Profile: Annette Joseph

Founder of Diverse and Equal

Annette Joseph, attended the Tech Inclusion Conference in London, December 2017. It was an amazing and transformative experience for her. At the end, everyone was challenged to act on championing diversity and inclusion moving forward. She made the commitment to speak up and amplify.

And that’s what she’s been doing ever since. Annettes company Diverse and Equal was formed to champion changing the narrative of the diversity conversation — from one of ethics and nice to have — to evidenced performance and profit improvements.

After planning the first conference in the NW England focused on increasing full spectrum diversity in the Tech sector in 2018, Annette has been the keynote speaker at Manchester’s inaugural DigitalCity Festival in 2020, Code Your Future’s first Manchester, at SheSays MCR, Her + Data, YETNorth, TECH@Housing Conference, and FutureEverything’s Innovate Manchester webinar. She’s been named to TechNation’s list of 50 Most Influential and Inspiring Black Voices in UK Tech and on Northern Power Women’s Future List.

Turning her focus towards the gaps in data around the experiences and needs of people from underserved communities, Annette delivers a provocation as part of the FutureEverything Innovate Manchester session, focusing on Our Digital Future: Data and Ethics
