A former chemical engineer and welder, I joined the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research in 2000. Prior to this, I spent 9 years working in the co-operative sector, in both housing and worker co-operatives, and was a founder member and design coordinator of Homes for Change Housing Co-operative, a mixed use new-build development of 100 flats, which celebrated its 20 year anniversary in 2016. My research integrates public and stakeholder perspectives with technical and modelling assessments to build an understanding of the deployment of renewable energy technologies and social responses to these. I am passionate about climate change engagement, and am increasingly exploring innovative approaches to engagement, and working with artists to reach diverse audiences in new ways rather than trying to change the world one conversation at a time.
