James Medd is an artist, designer, technologist, musician, educator, and more, based in Manchester, UK. In the past he’s made sculptures that respond to humans, built tools and toys for home, and transferred electronic circuits to canvas.
“I like to think my work comprises entertainment, accessibility, and whimsy. I like to design and make physical and digital things, for both fun and functionality. If something needs to work differently, I’ll break it and start over,” he says.
James has also been teaching creative technology workshops for 7 years, showing 6-year-olds and 60-year-olds alike how to make interesting content and creations with electronics, code, light, and sound. He’s ran workshops for local authorities, including Manchester City Council and Blackburn & Darwen Borough Council, as well as other organisations such as Manchester Digital Laboratory and AfroFutures_UK.
