Nicholas Delap is a digital artist whose work delves into the ancient past, local folklore, and the concept of re-wilding. He crafts immersive virtual environments, sculptures, and augmented reality installations that blur the line between the human and the natural world. His artworks invite viewers into a dialogue with environmentalism, spirituality, and mythology, challenging anthropocentric perspectives and celebrating the personhood of the wilderness.
Through enchanting renders, Delap conjures ancient ethers and brings their wisdom into the fragile present. His worlds, filled with sentient oaks, yews, and living fog, embody the otherworldly essence of the wild—from the Northern Moors of Northern England to the lush valleys and rugged coastlines of North Wales. By invoking a folklore aesthetic, Delap explores the themes of identity and community, highlighting the role of cultural preservation in ever-changing times.
Delap has participated in several prominent artist residencies, including SPUR and the Rupert AEP Programme in Lithuania. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the UK, Europe, and the Americas. Along side his own practice, Nicholas has created virtual and interactive Design works for prominent musicians, Music Festivals and brands including Ashnikko, Spotify, Sam Smith and Crocs.
