Profile: Tanya Saxena

Practitioner of the traditional Indian art form of Bharatanatyam

Tanya Saxena is a practitioner of the traditional Indian art form of Bharatanatyam – which finds roots in South Indian temple traditions. Given this antiquity and ties to temple culture, Tanya has focussed her work on re-constructing the tools and grammar of the form in a way that opens space for contemporary ideas, narratives and dialogue. She is an empanelled artist with the ICCR, an A Graded Doordarshan Artist and a recipient of the Ministry of Culture Scholarship for Young Artists. She holds a Masters in Performing Arts from Tamil Nadu University, and strongly believes that dance is for everyone.
