[Digital] Transmissions is an annual artistic development programme commissioned by the British Council in Jordan, supporting Jordan-based artists working at the intersection of art and technology. Building on the success of previous editions, Edition III is hosted by the Jordan Gaming Lab and co-developed with Maysalward, FutureEverything (UK), and the Goethe-Institut Jordan.
The programme aims to create new opportunities for new media visual artists and creative technologists—including game developers, 3D artists, animators, and multimedia storytellers—to explore meaningful collaboration and production across the art and technology sectors in Jordan.
If you’re an artist working with these mediums and are interested in exploring contemporary creative forms, emerging technologies, and critical themes shaping the digital landscape, this programme is for you.
As part of this edition, nine Jordan-based artists and creative technologists will be selected and offered the following opportunities:
• A four-month remote residency at the Jordan Gaming Lab (JGL):
Access a dedicated creative environment equipped with high-performance computers and design engines, providing space for in-depth learning, experimentation and collaboration. Work alongside a team of other creatives to collaborate and produce new virtual immersive experiences.
• Artistic development and mentorship:
Engage in conceptual and formal artistic development sessions with established digital artists and mentors from Jordan, the UK, and Germany. Receive professional guidance, critical feedback, and practical industry insights through a series of online and in-person mentorship meetings.
• Collaborative creative production:
Join a creative production team with two fellow participants, supported by three creative professionals including an art director, choreographer, and scenic sound artist who will support the technical and conceptual direction for the final productions.
• Cross-disciplinary exploration:
Receive the opportunity to advance your work at the intersection of theatre, new media art, gaming, 3D modelling, virtual world-building, and animation tools, expanding your creative and technical range.
• Networking and exhange:
Build connections with creative and technical practitioners working across visual arts, storytelling, choreography, sound, and immersive experiences. Take part in roundtable discussions, peer-to-peer project reviews and critiques, and collaborative sessions.
• Exhibit new work
Develop new work to be presented publicly in summer 2026 (dates and venue to be announced).
• Production support:
Receive a £1,000 production grant to support the development of your new work, with additional installation cost allowances available in Phase 2 of the programme at the time of the final showcase.
