Maker Faire Rome, presents YOU and AI: Through the Algorithmic Lens exhibition of artwork

If artificial intelligence shapes our lives, who shapes artificial intelligence? How are we influenced by machines that make decisions that we may not even be aware of?
You and AI is an exhibition that explores artificial intelligence not as some future potentiality but as a present-day reality. From social media platforms using algorithms to select the content we see and hear, not to mention our friends and where we go out, to digital maps that suggest places for us to go and how to get there, to predictive text on our mobile devices that completes our sentences for us, writing along with us, artificial intelligence is now to be found on our very bodies.
Curated by our Creative Director Irini Mirena Papadimitriou and Valentino Catricalà (SODA), the exhibition showcased several pieces of immersive and interactive artworks that question our fantasies and perceptions about artificial intelligence.

You and AI is related to the exhibition held this summer in Athens commissioned by Onassis Stegi: it carries on the investigation towards AI, paying attention to the automatisms that we assimilated into our gestures and to the social repercussions deriving from the use of smart-phones, social media and digital maps.
The exhibition You and AI Through The Algorithmic Lens is presented in collaboration with Onassis Stegi, as part of the European ARTificial Intelligence Lab, co-financed by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union.
Maker Faire, created in 2006 in the Bay Area of San Francisco as a project of the Make: magazine, now Make: community, is a large scale showcase of innovation and creativity. Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition, is the largest edition outside the United States.
